Employment

All employers in the UK are subject to the same legislation - there is a great deal of it, new rules and regulations are constantly being introduced, the sanctions for non compliance can be financially very serious, even crippling - and there are no exemptions or exceptions.

No matter what your size if you are an employer it is imperative for you to maintain your knowledge and awareness of current legislation.

Employees now have protection from being dismissed - after one year's continuous service an employee cannot be dismissed, except for gross misconduct or breach of contract, without due compensation.

They also are entitled to protection from discrimination at work, whether that be sex, race or disability. If discrimination occurs it is the employer who is liable and who must pay any damages awarded.

Statutory holiday entitlements are now a fact of life in the UK, as are maternity leave, paternity leave and parental leave entitlements.
